Albino Threadfin Acara

Albino Threadfin Acara (Acarichthys heckelii) is a South American cichlid from the Amazon and Guiana Shield drainage regions, where it is associated with warm, slow-moving freshwater habitats, sandy margins, flooded forest edges, and areas with leaf litter, roots, and soft sediment.

The albino form is a selectively bred color variety of the Threadfin Acara, showing reduced dark pigment while keeping the species’ long filament-like fin extensions, tall body shape, and active cichlid behavior. Its structure and movement are the main appeal, especially as it matures and develops longer trailing fins.

This species is best kept with space, stable water quality, and tank mates that are not small enough to be treated as food. It is generally less aggressive than many large cichlids, but it is still an active, territorial species that benefits from open swimming room, sand, and structure.
