Species Background
Comanche is a hardy hybrid water lily grown for its unusual changeable blooms. The flowers open rose-apricot on the first day, deepen to gold-orange on the second day, and mature to a coppery bronze tone by the third day. Like other hardy water lilies, it grows from a rhizomatous crown below the water surface and is suited to outdoor ponds where the rootstock can overwinter as long as the water does not freeze solid.
