Built from solid Northern California coastal redwood, this aquarium stand is designed as an open-frame structural support for rimless aquariums. The structure is simple, visible, and purpose-built, with no enclosed cabinetry or decorative panels.

Compatible canopies follow the same construction and finish.

Materials & Construction

This stand is built from solid coastal redwood, selected for its physical properties and long-term performance in aquarium environments.

Redwood is naturally lightweight for its strength, dimensionally stable, water resistant, rot resistant, and known for staying straight over time. These characteristics make it well suited for supporting aquariums without excessive mass or movement.

Design & Use

The open-frame layout provides an opportunity to display houseplants alongside a planted aquarium. Plants can be placed beneath or around the aquarium without visual clutter.

The canopy is intentionally open to allow healthy plants to grow through it. The canopy can be positioned independently, allowing placement to be adjusted based on lighting, plant growth, and the overall look you want to achieve.

This approach allows terrestrial plants and aquariums to be integrated naturally into a single display.

Finish

All stands and canopies are finished with a clear Monocoat wax oil, applied by hand to protect the wood while preserving its natural color and grain.

Assembly
