Alternanthera Reineckii Mini (Alternanthera reineckii โ€˜Miniโ€™) is a compact cultivated form of a South American Alternanthera plant associated with tropical to subtropical freshwater and wetland habitats. The broader plant group grows along marshes, stream edges, pond margins, and seasonally flooded areas, while this Mini form was selected for its smaller leaves, shorter growth, and rich red coloration in aquariums.

This plant grows as a low, colorful stem plant with small red to burgundy leaves that create strong contrast against green carpeting plants, mosses, and taller background stems. In aquariums, it works especially well as a foreground to midground accent where a smaller red plant can add color without taking over the layout. It roots into substrate and can be trimmed into compact groups for a fuller, more controlled aquascape look.

Alternanthera Reineckii Mini is a great choice for planted tanks that need a strong red accent in a smaller footprint. Its compact growth makes it useful for aquascapes, nano tanks, and detailed layouts where larger red stem plants may feel too tall or heavy. Healthy groups can also provide light cover and visual structure for small fish, shrimp, and fry while adding a bright contrast point to the aquarium.
