Blue Jelly Shrimp

Blue Jelly Shrimp (Neocaridina davidi) are a selectively bred freshwater dwarf shrimp developed from the hardy wild Neocaridina shrimp found across streams, ponds, ditches, and slow-moving freshwater habitats in East Asia. Wild forms are usually brown or translucent, but aquarium strains have been line-bred for stronger color, cleaner body tone, and more consistent appearance.

The Blue Jelly form is known for its soft translucent blue coloration, giving the shrimp a lighter, cleaner look than darker blue Neocaridina varieties. Like other Neocaridina shrimp, they spend most of their time grazing across plants, hardscape, substrate, and biofilm surfaces, making them especially useful in planted aquariums and mature nano tanks.

Blue Jelly Shrimp are peaceful, active, and best kept in groups where their natural grazing behavior is easy to observe. Their color, small size, and steady movement make them a strong choice for planted shrimp tanks, peaceful nano aquariums, and aquascapes where subtle blue contrast stands out.
