Discus – Pigeon Blood (Symphysodon spp.) is a domestically developed strain descended from discus native to the slow-moving, warm waterways of the Amazon Basin. Their wild ancestors inhabit calm tributaries, flooded forests, and areas with submerged roots and vegetation.

Pigeon Blood Discus are recognized for their bright orange-red coloration over a creamy white or yellow base. Selective breeding has produced the strain’s distinctive patterning, rounded body, and flowing dorsal and anal fins.

These graceful cichlids thrive in warm, stable aquariums with excellent water quality. They make impressive centerpiece fish and are especially striking when maintained in a properly sized group.
