Gold Pristella Tetra (Pristella maxillaris) is a small freshwater characin native to northern South America, including parts of Venezuela, Guyana, and the lower Amazon region. Wild Pristella Tetras are found in slow-moving streams, floodplain waters, and vegetated margins where they live in groups among plants, roots, and shaded cover.

This gold form is a captive-bred color variety of the classic X-Ray Tetra, with a pale golden body, translucent fins, and the recognizable black, white, and yellow markings on the dorsal and anal fins. The species has a naturally clear-bodied appearance, which is part of what makes Pristella Tetras visually distinct from many other community tetras.

Gold Pristella Tetras are active, peaceful schooling fish that work well in planted community aquariums. They show best in groups, where their movement, fin markings, and bright gold coloration create a clean, lively display without needing a large setup.
