Platinum Betta (Betta splendens) is a selectively bred freshwater labyrinth fish descended from wild populations native to Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and neighboring regions of Southeast Asia. Its wild ancestors inhabit slow-moving waters including rice paddies, canals, floodplains, and shallow vegetated wetlands where dense plant cover provides shelter and breeding sites.

This domestic variety is recognized for its solid metallic white coloration that ranges from bright silver-white to an opaque platinum sheen across the body and fins. Like all bettas, it possesses a labyrinth organ that allows it to breathe atmospheric air and males are known for constructing bubble nests during breeding.

Platinum Bettas are prized as elegant centerpiece fish whose brilliant coloration stands out against planted aquariums and dark backgrounds. They thrive in calm aquariums with gentle flow, warm stable water, and plenty of resting places near the surface, making them a favorite for display aquariums.
