Silver Flying Fox (Crossocheilus reticulatus) is a freshwater algae-eating cyprinid from Southeast Asia, with records through the Mekong region and surrounding river systems. In the wild, it is associated with clear, oxygen-rich streams and rivers where current, open swimming space, and algae-covered surfaces are part of its natural environment.

This species has a streamlined silver body, a darker reticulated scale pattern, and a noticeable dark mark near the tail. Its downturned grazing mouth is adapted for browsing algae, biofilm, and fine food particles from hard surfaces, giving it the constant grazing behavior aquarists look for in an active algae eater.

Silver Flying Fox is a peaceful, social algae eater best suited to larger community aquariums with room to cruise. It works especially well in planted tanks or aquariums with driftwood, stones, and steady water movement, where it can spend the day grazing, exploring, and helping keep surfaces clean.
